An inspired day today!!! I spent about three hours song-writing and experimenting with chords on the piano. Since coming to Ocean's Edge School of Worship I've had plenty of time to reflect and write. I started by writing something which kind of looked like poetry a few months ago and today I tried putting music to the words and changing them around a bit. I find that I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself to come up with a song and that freaked me out so much that I got discouraged! So instead of thinking words, music, melody, verses, choruses etc I decided to just write words, plain old words. I wrote about things I was feeling, experiences I'd had, mistakes I'd made and things I want. Today some of the words took on a melody and that was satisfying. I loved getting lost in trying to find something different and I realized that it's not often that I take time to just be creative. Life always seems to be about getting tasks done, rushing from one thing to another and today there was space...and it was good!
