Performed the new song in Artist Development class today. I wasn't nervous until I actually got up there and saw that my hands were shaking! My teacher gave me some encouraging feedback which definitely helped. I was motivated to continue songwriting for a couple of hours this afternoon and although there were a few good lines here and there I couldn't complete any of the potential songs that I have on the go at the moment. I know that I am an all or nothing kind of girl so I can get easily discouraged but I also know that if I persevere, I do get results. The thing with songwriting is that it takes time. Some songs can come in a day and others years. Recently I added a chorus to a song that I wrote about 5 years ago and that was satisfying and was almost like putting the conclusion to a story. Maybe the song wasn't ready to be concluded until I was further on in this journey of life and faith. If that's the case maybe my focus has to be the journey with Jesus and not on how many songs I can finish. Think I lost focus a bit today.....
